A Liberian-flagged cargo vessel, Eternity C was attacked by Houthi rebels on Monday, marking second such attack in a week.
According to a statement by the European Union naval mission in the Red Sea, only six crew members have been rescued so far. The rescued include five Filipino sailors and one Indian national.
On Tuesday, Houthis released video footage showing armed men boarding Eternity C and planting explosives, which later caused the vessel to sink. The attack reportedly involved rocket-propelled grenades and small arms fire from boats, followed by two explosive-laden drones and two bomb-carrying drone boats, reported AP.
The ship had a total of 25 people on board at the time of the attack, including 22 crew members 21 of them Filipino and one Russian, as well as a three-member private security team.
The ship was operated by a Greek firm, is believed to have been targeted for alleged ties to companies doing business with Israel.
