NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday vowed to reclaim the lost ground in Maharashtra's Konkan region and declared that there is "only one Shiv Sena," and he leads that.
Speaking at Matoshri in Mumbai, Uddhav said that he would tour the entire Konkan region to rejuvenate cadres and strengthen the organisation after recent poll defeats.
Taking a dig at deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, Uddhav said that the people of Maharashtra need the Shiv Sena (UBT) at this juncture, as it is the only political party in the state that keeps its word and fulfills its promises.
"We will reclaim Konkan. The (poll) results of Konkan were unexpected. People can be fooled once, but not all the time," Uddhav said.
This comes after the Shiv Sena (UBT) suffered a humiliating setback in the region, winning only one of the 15 seats in the Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg belt. During the Lok Sabha polls too, Shiv Sena (UBT) lost both seats in the region.
In the November 2024 assembly polls, the Shiv Sena (UBT) won just one seat in the region — Guhagar. The party was virtually wiped out from south Konkan, where it ceded space to the Shinde-led Shiv Sena.
