JAMMU: Four people, including a minor, were killed and two others sustained injuries when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Jammu & Kashmir’s Reasi district on Thursday.
According to officials, the accident occurred near Ganjote area in the district when the driver lost control of his SUV and it plunged into a gorge resulting in death of three people on the spot and injuries to three others. “The injured were taken to hospital, where one of them succumbed to fatal injuries,” the officials said.
“The deceased have been identified as Manzoor Ahmed, 40, a teacher by profession, his daughter Ulfat Jan, 10, Bashir Ahmed, 28, all resident of old Deval in Mahore block, and Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, 42, resident of Ladh in Mahore block of the district,” officials said.
Police identified the injured as Shabir Ahmed Nag, 38, resident of Deval, and Irtika Manzoor, 12, daughter of Manzoor Ahmed from Deval. They were given first aid at the district hospital at Reasi and referred to the Govt Medical College and Hospital at Jammu for specialized treatment, police said.
