Thousands gather for Diwali Shivir at Asaram Bapu Ashram

In a unique celebration of Diwali, thousands of individuals from diverse backgrounds converged at Sant Shri Asharamji Bapu Ashram, Ahmedabad for a transformative Spiritual Awakening Shivir. The seven-day event aimed to promote holistic development through Vedic knowledge, yogic practices, and cultural revival.
The Vision:
According to ashram officials, the Spiritual Awakening Shivir is an annual initiative organised during Diwali to provide a platform for spiritual growth, self-discovery, and mental detox. According to the organizers of the Shivir, the objective is to help individuals reconnect with their inner selves and foster a deeper connection. The knowledge of the vedas and Upanishads is imparted to the participants so that they can understand who they really are and what the aim of human life is. Moreover, the science to free themselves from lust and desires and attain the supreme goal of Self Realisation (Atma Sakshatkar) is also taught in the Shivir.
Activities:
The Shivir featured immersive activities, including:
- Nitya Sandhya (morning, afternoon, and evening prayers)
- Satsang/Discourses on spiritual teachings and moral values
- Chanting and meditation for mental well-being
- Yoga Asanas for physical and mental balance
- Cultural events showcasing India's rich heritage
- Reading Scriptures for spiritual enlightenment
- Bhaktimay dance and kirtan for devotion
Food for body and food for mind in Asaram Bapu Ashram
Thousands of children and Gen Z also participated in this Shivir and gained character building, memory enhancement, and IQ/EQ enhancement tips.
Ayurvedic and seasonal food, including panchagavya (made of Desi cow products), was served to promote health and well-being. Traditional Vedic rituals of Dhanteras, Diwali, and Bhai Bheej were celebrated with enthusiasm.
The organization's emphasis on spiritual awakening stems from its founder, Asharamji Bapu's, vision of creating a society rooted in moral values and spiritual principles.
Through the Spiritual Awakening Shivir, the organization seeks to empower individuals to become active contributors to society, driven by moral values and spiritual principles.
Testimony of Diwali in Asaram Bapu Ashram
Sahil, a Chartered Accountant (CA) from Ambala, attended this Shivir for the eighth time and attributed his successful career to the activities and inspirations gained from these sessions. Sahil said "In my childhood a renowned astrologer said that you won't be a successful professional. On the Contrary the shivir changed my fate line."
Smruti Snigdha, a Senior Product Manager from Delhi said, "In my professional career shivir was very useful to make a perfect work life balance and stress management."
The event's success was made possible by volunteers who selflessly managed every aspect, demonstrating unity and collaboration.
