Kochi: Streetlights have become functional along Thammanam RoB after a gap of around a year. TN Prathapan, an RTI activist, had lodged complaints with Kochi corporation, LSG minister and others to get it resolved.
However, it was the complaint he submitted to legal services authority that finally led to sorting out the issue. "A month ago, corporation and Kerala State Legal Services Authority (Kelsa) jointly initiated a programme at Ernakulam Town Hall to address public grievances. However, no action was taken on the complaints submitted that day. Next day, the complaint box was missing at corporation office, so I approached additional secretary and had it placed outside the office," said Prathapan.
"Similarly, streetlights on Vyttila flyover are also not working. I submitted this complaint to various departments and Maradu police six months ago, but no action was taken. That's why I submitted the complaint to Kelsa. Streetlights on Ponnurunni flyover became operational from Monday," he said.
"In the first year of the cabinet, industries minister P Rajeeve promised to repair potholes near Vyttila mobility hub within six months, but it has been three years and the work is yet to be done," Prathapan said.
