Wooden kiosk catches fire, none injured

Kanpur: A wooden kiosk caught fire in the Baghai area of Babupurwa police station on Wednesday morning. There was also a loud explosion with the fire. Upon receiving the information, the fire brigade team arrived at the scene.

The team promptly brought the fire under control. Local police also reached the spot immediately. Since it was early morning, no one was present around the kiosk. As a result, there were no casualties. According to chief fire officer Deepak Sharma, the cause of the fire is not yet clear. Fire brigade officials suspect that sparks ignited from a cigarette might have triggered the blaze. The wooden structure of the kiosk acted as fuel, causing the fire to spread rapidly. Local residents were awakened by the sound of the explosion and immediately alerted the authorities. The kiosk was completely destroyed in the incident. Fire safety officers conducted a preliminary assessment of the damage and collected evidence from the site. They have advised other kiosk owners in the vicinity to implement proper safety measures and maintain electrical installations. The police have registered a case and are examining CCTV footage from nearby establishments to determine if there was any foul play involved.. The owner of the kiosk will be questioned once the initial investigation is complete.tnn
