Kanpur: Following death of engineer Vineet Dubey post-hair transplant, another case has surfaced of a techie from Farrukhabad who succumbed within 24 hours of receiving treatment from same hair transplant specialist. Both procedures were conducted by the female doctor at a private hospital in Sharda Nagar.
Pramodini Katiyar, the deceased's mother from Farrukhabad, visited Kanpur on Wednesday and met police commissioner Akhil Kumar, with all relevant documents about the doctor. She submitted the clinic's documentation and test results to the CP, seeking action against the doctor. "We have requested that all documents be sent to the CMO for investigation," she said.
She told media that her 32-year-old son, Mayank Katiyar, a B.Tech graduate working in the private sector, died six months ago after hair transplant treatment from the same female doctor. She confirmed that Mayank underwent the procedure on Nov 18, 2024, and passed away on Nov 19, 2024.
ACP Kalyanpur Abhishek Kumar confirmed an ongoing investigation into the previous case, acknowledging awareness of the second incident.
"As of now, we are awaiting instructions from our seniors. In the earlier case, we are zeroing in on the doctor, who is on the run," he said. Recently, Vineet Dubey, an engineer at Panki Power House, developed an infection and died following hair transplant by the specialist. His wife later filed a complaint against the doctor. It has emerged that another death occurred six months prior due to the same doctor's treatment. On Nov 18, 2024, engineer Mayank Katiyar died following complications from a hair transplant performed by the doctor. Kushagra, the deceased's brother, said that Mayank's face became swollen post-procedure. The doctor initially assured them of normality but later became unreachable.
"Subsequently, the doctor allegedly stopped answering calls and blocked all their numbers. Shortly after, their son passed away," he said. "Mayank appeared well initially. The doctor provided pain medication. However, Mayank developed headache after leaving. The doctor advised following the medication regime. Nevertheless, the facial swelling increased," she recalled. When the swelling worsened, they were directed to consult a cardiologist, who found no cardiac issues. The doctor then requested them to visit her clinic. The mother said that her son died shortly after consulting the doctor. The family said that they refused conducting a post-mortem examination, hence no report exists. However, upon learning about Vineet Dubey's death and the subsequent FIR, they decided to come forward.
