Kanpur: Three men riding a motorcycle were killed after being run over by a speeding dumper on late Tuesday night in Binwar police station area of Hamirpur district.
The police sent the bodies for autopsy. The accident occurred near Badhur village in the Bhinwar police station area when a speeding dumper hit three motorcyclists who were heading to a wedding ceremony late Tuesday night.
The victims were identified as Amar (24), Shatrughan (25), and Raja (25), all from Kalpi town in Jalaun district.
According to reports, Raja worked for a private company in Delhi, Amar was involved in parcel delivery for Flipkart and Amazon in Hamirpur and nearby areas while Shatrughan was a local electrician who did light fittings from house to house.
The three were childhood friends and lived in the same neighbourhood.
Binwar police station officer Dharmendra Kumar said the three people who died in the accident were not wearing helmets.
The police impounded the dumper and parked it at the police station. The dumper driver fled after the accident, and the police are searching for him, the police officer said.
