Anand Sabha to be introduced in govt schools for classes 9 and 10

Send Push

Indore: Beginning with the academic session 2025–26, all govt high schools and higher secondary schools in Madhya Pradesh will organise a weekly session titled Anand Sabha every Saturday during the first period. The initiative, jointly implemented by the School Education Department and State Anand Sansthan, aims to promote emotional well-being, happiness, moral values, and a positive mindset among students of Classes 9 and 10.

In Anand Sabha, teachers will engage students through storytelling, games, and activities that focus on teaching happiness, mindfulness, and sensitivity in relationships. This initiative is expected to equip students with life skills and a balanced outlook during their formative years.

To ensure the effective execution of the programme, 3,500 teachers across the state are being trained as master trainers in specially designed workshops from May 1 to June 8, 2025. These master trainers will further train around 3,600 more teachers at the divisional level. The training will be conducted through four six-day state-level workshops in Bhopal, where 500 selected teachers and volunteers will participate.

Additionally, 30 divisional-level workshops will be held in cities like Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, Gwalior, Rewa, Sagar, Jabalpur, and Narmadapuram, involving around 3,000 more teachers. Over 100 professors from across India, in collaboration with AICTE, are voluntarily contributing to the programme, making it a rare example of education being treated as a form of social service. The State Anand Sansthan is also developing relevant content and training modules for the initiative.

Officials said that in today's fast-paced and emotionally disconnected society, it is crucial to introduce students to the values of empathy, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal understanding during adolescence. The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI), Madhya Pradesh, is the first such body in the country to launch this unique programme across all its schools. Initially launched in 2023–24 in select CM Rise and district-level model schools, Anand Sabha will now be scaled up to reach students across the state.
