Youth held for killing 51-yr-old

Guwahati: Dispur police on Wednesday arrested a 20-year-old youth for allegedly stabbing a 51-year-old woman to death and attempting to strangle her daughter in the city's Christian Basti area.

Dispur OC Bhaskar Malla Patowary said Abhimanyu Debnath of West Tripura district stabbed Suparna Das Choudhary multiple times. Her daughter Priyanjali, who was injured, is his girlfriend.

"Suparna Das Choudhary ran a paying guest accommodation and lived there with her daughter Priyanjali. From preliminary investigation we have found that Debnath forcibly entered the PG with the intention of attacking Priyanjali over a relationship dispute between them. When her mother intervened... Debnath stabbed her. She succumbed to her injuries on the spot," the OC said.
