Guwahati: The 3rd Professor Deepali Dutta Oration, organised by the department of psychiatry at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), was meticulously conducted on Sunday at the O&G Auditorium at GMCH.

The assemblage brought together distinguished professionals from psychiatry, literature, philosophy and the arts, featuring an eloquent discourse on “Art, Imagination and Creativity in the Light of Freud, Christ, and the Buddha.”

Eminent art and literary critic and distinguished columnist Jyoti Khataniar delivered this year’s oration. His profound discourse on the intricate relationship between creativity, spirituality and mental health resonated deeply with the audience. He masterfully explored how Sigmund Freud, Christ and the Buddha perceived imagination and creativity’s role in human experience.

During his scholarly presentation, Khataniar delved into creativity’s therapeutic efficacy and its capacity to harmonise the unconscious with the conscious, the divine with the mortal.
