Silchar: Heroin and opium valued at Rs 4.5 crore were seized and two drug peddlers arrested by police in Salchapra near Silchar town on Tuesday evening, police said on Wednesday.
SP (Cachar) Numal Mahatta said on Wednesday that police carried out an operation in Salchapra on Tuesday and intercepted a vehicle. On searching the vehicle, 72 soap cases containing 847 grams of heroin and four packets containing opium were found.
Two individuals were arrested. They were identified as Md Amo Khan (47) and Md Salim (28). While Amo hails from Bishnupur district of Manipur, Salim is a resident of Mantripukhuri, Imphal East, Mahatta said.
