Aizawl: In a dramatic political turn of events in Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC), a notification issued by Zodingliani, secretary for state district council & minority affairs, on behalf of Mizoram governor Gen VK Singh on Wednesday declared the appointment of the incumbent chief executive member (CEM) of the LADC V Zirsanga, leader of the Zoram People's Movement, on Feb 24 as null and void.
The notification also said, consequently, the LADC budget for 2025-2026, presented by Zirsanga and passed by the council on April 22, is also declared null and void. The state governor further directed that no legislative business or administrative/executive decision be taken by LADC without the newly appointed CEM N Zangura proving his majority.
Meanwhile, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) leaders who have staked claim to form the next executive committee in the LADC on Wednesday said ZPM has been responsible for the current political crisis in the LADC. The UDA comprises of 11 Mizo National Front (MNF) members of district council (MDCs) and 2 BJP MDCs with outside support from the lone Congress MDC, C Lalmuanthanga.
