GURGAON: A teenage boy, the son of a truck driver from Uttar Pradesh, was killed in a road accident in the Farrukhnagar area of Gurgaon on Friday. The minor and his father were waiting for transportation when a speeding bus hit the boy, who came under the wheels and sustained fatal injuries.
Avadh Bihari Pandey (38), a resident of Aaropur village in Ghazipur Tehsil, Uttar Pradesh, works as a truck driver for a courier company located near Fatehpur Mod in Farrukhnagar. He had been staying in Farrukhnagar for work. His 17-year-old son, Sonu, had been living with him for the past several days.
Around 9:15 am on Friday, Sonu and his father were waiting for transportation near Fatehpur Mod to head towards Farrukhnagar when a bus, reportedly being driven at high speed and in a negligent manner from the direction of Jhajjar, struck Sonu, who was standing by the roadside. He came under the rear tyre of the vehicle. The driver stopped the bus briefly, during which Pandey managed to note the licence plate number as HR 63E 0333. The driver then fled the scene.
“It was a private bus. I took my injured son to the government hospital in Farrukhnagar for treatment, where the doctor referred him to PGIMS Rohtak due to the severity of his injuries. Unfortunately, my son passed away on the way to the hospital,” said Pandey. Upon reaching PGIMS Rohtak, doctors declared Sonu dead.
According to police, they received a call about the accident near Fatehpur Mod around 11:01 am. The injured boy had sustained two major blunt injuries and was referred to PGIMS Rohtak, where he was declared dead.
Based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s father, a case has been registered at Farrukhnagar police station under Sections 281 (rash or negligent driving or riding on a public way) and 106 (death caused by negligence, not amounting to culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
“We are trying to trace the bus driver and the offending vehicle,” said Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for Gurgaon Police.
