Nagpur: Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) celebrated Independence Day on August 15 with great zeal. Chairman-cum-managing director JP Dwivedi inspected the parade, unfurled the national flag, and felicitated security personnel for their outstanding work. In his address, he highlighted production, productivity, safety, environmental protection, CSR initiatives , and the adoption of new technologies, urging employees to contribute to the nation's growth through coal production.
The event witnessed the presence of directors, CVO, office bearers of Jhankar Mahila Mandal, members of the operations committee, trade union representatives, senior officers, and employees. On the occasion, Dwivedi inaugurated a creche at the residential colony and honoured employees, along with children excelling in academics.
Awards were also presented to outstanding mines, with Umrer Area securing first place, Ballarpur second, and Majri third. Patriotic songs added to the celebratory atmosphere.
