BJP to observe 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar

Bhopal: State BJP on Wednesday held a workshop to plan the celebration of the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar , the 18th century queen of Indore. The party decided to run a 10-day campaign from May 21 to 31 highlighting the life, administration and philanthropy of Ahilyabai Holkar.

BJP's national co-organisation general secretary Shivprakash, state party president Vishnudutt Sharma, state in-charge Mahendra Singh and state unit organisation general secretary Hitanand Sharma addressed the workshop at the BJP office here.

BJP state chief Sharma said the ideals established by Rani Ahilyabai , her thoughts, her public welfare works have to be taken to the people during this campaign. Party's state in-charge Mahendra Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working to fulfil the dreams of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar.

BJP national co-organisational general secretary Shivprakash argued that Rani Ahilyabai made provision for compensation for the loss of crops caused by the movement of the army. "She established Maheshwar Saree Industry to provide employment to women. To promote this saree, she used to gift this saree to every foreign guest, and she used to wear the same herself. Her life was full of sacrifices, and she ruled her kingdom as the kingdom of Lord Shiva and ruled with devotion. She took many steps for the upliftment of the tribal society."

Shivprakash further said, "During this campaign, we have to find local examples of her work and present them before the public. He said that today's youth do not have sufficient knowledge of our religion and culture. During the campaign of the 300th birth anniversary of Rani Ahilyabai, we have to focus on her and through the examples of Rani Ahilyabai, this information has to be given to the youth, young women, women, intellectuals and other sections of the society."
