Prayagraj: A 2018 batch IAS officer, Seelam Sai Teja, on Thursday took charge as the new municipal commissioner of Prayagraj and stressed closed coordination with all departments for efficient working of the Prayagraj Municipal Corporation (PMC).
He interacted with various department heads to gain a preliminary understanding of the corporation's functioning.
Shortly after assuming office, Teja held a brief introductory session with additional municipal commissioners and key departmental officers. Chief Tax Assessment Officer PK Dwivedi, Chief Engineer Anil Maurya, Environmental Engineer Uttam Verma, and others were also present. He announced his intention to conduct a detailed departmental review meeting next week, where he plans to closely analyse the working structure of each unit and take further steps to enhance operational efficiency.
He also visited the camp office of mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani in Kydganj and discussed crucial urban development projects and long-term goals for the city's transformation.
Highlighting the cultural and spiritual importance of Prayagraj, Teja said, "It is a matter of great pride to be entrusted with the responsibility of a city revered as the king of pilgrimage sites. I will work with utmost dedication for its holistic development."
The mayor apprised the official of ongoing and upcoming major projects, including the proposed International Spiritual University and a dedicated Literature Park. He requested the municipal chief to prioritise these initiatives, which aim to enrich the city's cultural and educational landscape. In response, Teja assured full corporation.
Seelam Sai Teja hails from Hyderabad and brings with him a strong administrative background. Prior to this, he served as the chief development officer in Jaunpur and held the position of sub-divisional magistrate in Maharajganj. Throughout his career, he made significant contributions in the fields of rural development, education, healthcare and infrastructure.
