Prayagraj: Commissioner of Police (Prayagraj) Tarun Gauba on Friday felicitated constable (gunner) Dharmendra Kumar with a citation for his excellent work during the 2025 Maha Kumbh. Constable Dharmendra Kumar had offered a helping hand to an elderly woman at Prayagraj railway junction by carrying her on his shoulders and taking her to the platform and designated shelter slots. ACP (Kotwali) Manoj Kumar Singh told TOI, "When constable Dharmendra Singh spotted an 80-year-old woman, who was somehow separated from her family outside Prayagraj junction and crying for help during Maha Kumbh, he immediately rushed towards her and asked about the plight." The old woman, who arrived in Prayagraj from Saharasa (Bihar) along with family members for a holy dip, got separated while returning. The cop found her sitting on a roadside corner and weeping. He then carried her on his shoulders as she was unable to walk properly and took her to the designated shelter slot for passengers. The cop also helped the elderly woman by carrying her on his shoulders for more than 500 meters and reunited her with family members at the designated shelter slot.
