'The Babar Show': Star Pakistan Batter Smashes Five Successive Boundaries In Champions Cup- WATCH

Send Push

Ace Pakistan batter Babar Azam looked in sublime touch when he smacked Shahnawaz Dahani for five boundaries in an over in the ongoing Champions Cup. The former thrilled the Faisalabad crowd with his brilliant batting, even as Pakistan's cricket fans have been deprived of some good show from Babar over the past few months in international cricket. In the eighth over of Stallions' innings, Babar gave his team the necessary momentum by taking down Dahani with some brilliant stroke play. After beginning the over with a dot ball, Babar took the attack to Dahani and smacked him all around the park to finish with 20 runs in the over. Watch the video here:

In the match, Mohammad Rizwan's Markhors batted first to post 231, riding on half-centuries from Salman Agha and Iftikhar Ahmed. In the chase, Babar's Stallions were bowled out for a paltry 105, with Zahid Mahmood picking five wickets. Babar's 44-ball 45-run knock thus went in vain, but the star Pakistan batter has looked in much better flow than the last few months in the domestic competition. Babar's Horrid Run In International Cricket This year, Babar has scored 773 runs in international cricket in 22 matches, at an average of 33.6 and six fifties to his name. Much to the surprise of many, he hasn't hit a single century this year. Moreover, Babar's captaincy career has taken a hit as well. He relinquished captaincy duties after Pakistan couldn't qualify for the knockouts of the 2023 ODI World Cup. Ace pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was made the T20I captain but a few months after his appointment, he was sacked and Babar came back to the helm. But reinstatement of the old order didn't help Pakistan, as under Babar's leadership, they lost to arch-rivals India as well as to the USA at the T20 World Cup in June.
