Vice President and Democrat nominee, Kamala Harris, swept past a question on whether Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu is considered a "close ally".In an exclusive interview with CBS' '60 Minutes' segment, Harris was asked this question. She replied, "I think, with all due respect, the better question is, do we have an important alliance between the American people and the Israeli people? And the answer to that question is yes."To bring down tensions in the Middle East and to stop a potential war, the Biden-Harris administration opposed many armed operations by Israel, especially in Gaza and Lebanon. They further urged for a ceasefire to lower the potential of a war. President Biden has also clashed several times with Netanyahu, urging the Israel PM to think about citizens' safety.

Notably, during Netanyahu's United States visit, Harris met him and told him to understand the suffering of the people of Gaza. "We cannot allow ourselves to become numb to the suffering, and I will not be silent," Harris said.

Alongside, last month President Biden stated at the United Nations that the Gaza civilians are suffering a lot amidst the conflict between Israel and Gaza. He further urged on pacing up the ceasefire talks to calm down the tensions in Middle East region. The conflict between Israel and Hamas has escalated since the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel. Hamas militants killed 1200 Israelis at a music concert and took 251 hostage.
