On the back of a harrowing loss at the hands of England in the first Test, the Pakistan Cricket Board took some drastic measures ahead of the second Test. Babar Azam was dropped from the remaining two Tests against England as Pakistan are battling a crisis on home soil. Kamran Ghulam was named as Babar's replacement in the Test squad.Babar has been severely criticised for his form in the longer format and his proficiency against Zimbabwe. "ZimBabar” is what people call him for his dominance against Zimbabwe but is Babar really a batter who only does his trickery against smaller teams? let's find out. Babar has amassed 3997 runs so far in 55 matches at an average of 43.92. He has nine centuries and 26 half-centuries to his name so far in his Test career. Babar has so far played two Test matches against Zimbabwe and could only muster 2 runs in those two games. Against Australia he has scored the most number of runs, 925 at an average of 38.54. Incidentally his personal best of 196 run also came against Australia in Karachi back in 2022. Against England, the former Pakistan captain has accumulated 646 runs at an impressive average of 53.83 in 8 matches. His performance against New Zealand also deserves accolades as the 29 year old has scored 635 runs in seven Test matches with an average of 57.72. Babar also has had productive time against Sri Lanka and South Africa having recorded 648 and 343 runs respectively. Babar happens to be one of the most successful batsmen in the red ball format in recent times so all the chatter regarding his current Test form might be a but misplaced as things stand. It isn't fair to state that he only scores against Zimbabwe as he has scored sufficient runs against all the big guns. Babar recently resigned from the white ball captaincy and it remains to be seen whether he will be reinstated to the Test squad after the England series.
