Chennai: Heavy rains have caused significant disruption to train services between Basin Bridge and Vyasarpadi Railway Stations in Chennai, leading to waterlogging on Bridge No. 14. As a result, Southern Railway has announced several changes to train operations for October 16, Today. These changes include full cancellations, short terminations, alterations in termination points, and changes in the origination of certain trains.
Full Train CancellationsA number of trains have been fully cancelled due to the ongoing situation:- Train No. 12007 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Mysuru Shatabdi, scheduled to depart from Chennai at 6:00 AM on 16th October, has been cancelled.- Train No. 16054 Tirupati – Dr MGR Chennai Central Express, set to leave Tirupati at 10:10 AM, is also cancelled.- Train No. 16053 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Tirupati Express, which was to depart at 2:25 PM, will not run. Trains with Shortened RoutesSeveral trains have had their journeys shortened, resulting in partial cancellations:- Train No. 22650 Erode – Dr MGR Chennai Central Yercaud Superfast Express, which left Erode at 9:00 PM on 15th October, will now terminate at Perambur.- Train No. 22640 Alappuzha – Dr MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express, which left Alappuzha at 3:20 PM on 15th October, will stop at Avadi.- Train No. 12602 Mangaluru Central – Dr MGR Chennai Central Mail, which departed Mangaluru Central at 1:55 PM on 15th October, will now terminate at Tiruvallur.- Train No. 12674 Coimbatore – Dr MGR Chennai Central Cheran Superfast Express, which left Coimbatore at 10:50 PM on 15th October, will also terminate at Tiruvallur.- Train No. 12624 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Dr MGR Chennai Central Mail, which left at 3:00 PM on 15th October, will end its journey at Arakkonam.- Train No. 22159 Mumbai CST – Dr MGR Chennai Central Express, which departed Mumbai at 12:45 PM on 15th October, will terminate at Arakkonam as well. Changes in Train Termination PointsSome trains will now end their journey at Chennai Beach instead of Dr MGR Chennai Central:- Train No. 22652 Palakkad – Dr MGR Chennai Central Express, which left Palakkad at 4:10 PM on 15th October, will terminate at Chennai Beach.- Train No. 12672 Mettupalayam – Dr MGR Chennai Central Nilgiri Superfast Express, which left Mettupalayam at 9:20 PM on 15th October, will also terminate at Chennai Beach.- Train No. 16022 Mysuru – Dr MGR Chennai Central Kaveri Express, which departed at 9:00 PM on 15th October, will terminate at Chennai Beach.- Train No. 12686 Mangaluru Central – Dr MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express, which left at 4:55 PM on 15th October, will also end at Chennai Beach.- Train No. 12696 Thiruvananthapuram Central – Dr MGR Chennai Central Superfast Express, which left at 5:15 PM on 15th October, will terminate at Chennai Beach as well. Changes in Train Origin PointsSeveral trains scheduled to depart from Dr MGR Chennai Central on 16th October will now start from different stations:- Train No. 22160 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Mumbai CST Express will now originate from Arakkonam at 2:25 PM, instead of its original departure at 1:15 PM from Chennai Central.- Train No. 20677 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Vijayawada Vande Bharat Express will depart from Chennai Beach at 5:30 AM instead of Chennai Central.- Train No. 12675 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Coimbatore Superfast Express will now leave from Chennai Beach at 8:10 AM, instead of its scheduled time of 6:10 AM from Chennai Central.- Train No. 22625 Dr MGR Chennai Central – KSR Bengaluru Double Decker Express will also originate from Chennai Beach at 7:25 AM.- Train No. 12639 Dr MGR Chennai Central – KSR Bengaluru Brindavan Superfast Express will leave from Chennai Beach at 7:40 AM instead of Chennai Central.- Train No. 22601 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Sai Nagar Shirdi Superfast Express will originate from Chennai Beach at 10:30 AM.- Train No. 22637 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Mangaluru Central Express will now start from Tiruvallur at 2:05 PM.- Train No. 12695 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Express will leave from Avadi at 3:45 PM instead of 3:20 PM from Chennai Central.- Train No. 22919 Dr MGR Chennai Central – Ahmedabad Humsafar Express will originate from Avadi at 4:30 PM.Passengers are advised to check their train schedules and plan accordingly, as the disruptions are likely to affect many travellers.
