
A sandy known for its dramatic cliffs, rolling dunes, and rock pools is the longest beach in and a perfect destination for surfers and beach lovers. Stretching over three miles, Gwithian Towans Beach lies between Hayle and Godrevy Head.
Located just 10 miles from the popular seaside town of St Ives, the forms part of Three Mile within St Ives Bay. The tourist destination is immensely popular among windsurfers and kite surfers, as well as families looking for a wide, sandy beach. The stunning coastal area boasts one of the most beautiful sunsets in the entire region.
One holidaymaker wrote on TripAdvisor: "Plenty of parking at the National Trust car park in April and free to park if you have a National Trust membership.
"Little walk down some stairs and across the small bridge, which takes you towards the beach area. We avoided the dunes as we had a dog with us and heard there might be snakes around at the time of year we visited.
"The beach was huge when the tide was out, and the sand was lovely and golden. Great on a sunny day."
One of the famous surfing spots at the beach is called 'Sheep Dips' which refers to a large pool formed between two big sets of rocks.
Another chimed in: "Superb beach. One side dog dog-friendly, the other side is the normal beach. Lovely small cafe at the top of the hill. Cleanish toilets are available. The beach is huge. Parking can be tricky, and many park at the top of the road. Highly recommend."
A third wrote on the forum: "Fabulous beach with so many areas to explore. Rock pooling, clambering around on the top, bodyboarding, surfing. So much sandy area when the tides are out, and plenty of spaces for games.
"If you get a chance, head to the cafe (I think it's now called Lula) the deluxe hot chocolate is phenomenal! Lots of memories of this beach and will always be a favourite."
