A tenant from hell has abandoned his home, leaving behind 3,000 empty beer cans stacking higher than the furniture - only paying rent once in seven years. Landlords Sandra Considine, 58, and her husband Chris, 70, kindly rented out their two-bedroomed flat in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, to a friend in need of aid for just £30-a-week back in 2018.
However, the couple explain that the friend went M.I.A just weeks into the lease - before blocking the pair's access to their property for the following seven years, refusing to leave and pay the requested rent.
The occupier, who has not been named, finally fled in January this year and the pair were able to regain access to their flat last month. Horrific footage reveals the 'inhumane' state the couple faced upon returning to their apartment, originally bought for their daughter.
Thousands of urine-filled beer cans can be found, strewn across almost every room as well as bags filled with human excrement and piles of abandoned takeaway boxes. The unpleasant tenant left behind thousands of pounds worth of damage to Sandra and Chris' carpets, furniture, walls, kitchen appliances and the bathroom.

The couple, shocked and disgusted, say the whole flat smells like 'stale urine', leading to a whopping cleaning bill on top of the damage costs they already face. After being diagnosed with incurable cancer and consequently forced to retire from work, Chris explains he is too ill to resolve the issue alongside Sandra, who is also frail.
Chris said: "You just can't believe it when you see it. We can only guess how many cans there were amongst the rubbish, it must be thousands."
The former DPD employee went on to explain that, as the cans were left there for an incredibly long time, the urine worked like an acid, eroding the can metal.
Chris shared one small relief: "Thankfully most of the human waste was tied up in bags so at least that was something but the state he was living in was inhumane."
Sandra shared her thoughts on the distressing experience. She said: "We got access to the flat in June and what we found was horrible. The cans were stacked at waist height, a mixture of all sorts, it's shocking. You can't move stuff in case a can falls because they're full of fluids. It's ever such a long job."
The grandmother-of-three expressed how they had to act fast with the impact the urine stench could have in the heatwave. She added: "The smell was horrendous. We had to be careful we didn't knock it and let it spill down to the flat underneath. There were bags of human faeces found as well, but luckily not as many. How can you live like this?"
The nightmare tenant was a former colleague of Chris's at DPD who was facing adversity and even homelessness if he could not find support soon. Hoping to lend a helping hand, Chris and Sandra temporarily offered their apartment as a place to stay in exchange for the tenant's help painting the walls.
Sandra explained that she felt sympathy for Chris's colleague after hearing he was previously lodging in a tent. In return for just £30 a week and some help in doing up the new flat, Sandra felt that the couple's request was reasonable. But the tenant only paid rent once.
Chris's colleague gave Sandra persistent "nonsense" about when he was leaving. Having never written a tenancy agreement, Sandra never tried to officially evict him.
She said: "I just got so bloody fed up with it, he seemed to know his rights. I never thought of myself as a landlord, not for one minute. It just went on and on and on. It got to the point where I said I needed to do an inspection but he wouldn't let me in.
"We were trying to be kind but in the end we just feel utterly exploited. I just hope I don't have to pay for the water and electricity bills he's built up."
Rose Considine, the 25-year-old daughter of the couple, has started a GoFundMe page in attempt to aid her parents who cannot afford to pay for professional cleaners. The full-time support worker and mum-of-one said: "It's not liveable, you couldn't possibly live, walk or sleep anywhere. He was obviously urinating in the cans as the toilet was blocked."
The cans were stacked to the ceiling in some rooms, and every room of the flat has been ruined. The fleeing former colleague has since cut off contact with the family. Rose added: "We've raised £300 so far but I estimate it will cost more than £500, it wouldn't
touch the surface of the property. It will need cutting out and fumigating. A lot of the appliances will need to go. They have been completely mugged and taken advantage of for the last seven years and I hope we can raise a bit of money to give them some relief after the whole nightmare ordeal."
