Strictly Come Dancing's Ross King fights back tears as he opens up on 'disappointment'

Strictly Come Dancing star Ross King wiped away tears as he shared his "disappointment" in himself. The This Morning star was at the bottom of the leaderboard in week one as he scored just 10 points from the judges.

This week, in his videotape before taking to the stage with his partner Jowita Przystal, he confessed how he was feeling after such a poor result. He said: "The live show was disappointing. The little bit of confidence that I had, it has been knocked. But, you know what, I'm going to take on board everything that the judges suggested. I really want to get better." Jowita fully supported her dance partner as she shared that she was "really proud" of him. As part of Ross competing in the BBC show, he has managed to return to his home country of Scotland after living in the States for years. In the video, he became emotional as he explained that he had to move away for work, "but could always see myself coming back."

He became tearful as he opened up on the "special times" he had in Scotland and spoke about his family as Jowita leaned in to give him a big hug. However, he said that the tears were "happy" ones as he admitted: "It's a happy cry."

However, fans bashed the intimate moment and accused Ross of fishing for "sympathy votes".

Posting to X/Twitter, one fan fumed: "Week 2 and the sob stories for the sympathy vote has already began."

Another said: "Anyone falling for the sympathy edit needs to be stopped voting for anything else #strictly," while a third added: "Ross going for the sympathy vote and the Scottish vote because he hasn't got the dancing skills, very clever."

Luckily, this week, the judges felt that he had improved slightly. Shirley Ballas said that it was "better than last week" but he had to "work on posture and frame, bring personality and light up with love".

However, Craig criticised him saying: "Too cautious and erring on the side of dull, lacked movement but loved the sentiment, keep going, darling".
