Comedian Reggie Carroll has been shot dead at the age of just 52 in Mississippi. Southaven Police has confirmed the sad news, with officials confirming the fatal shooting occurred last week, with cops responding to a call to find Carroll suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He could sadly not be revived despite desperate efforts to save his life. A suspect has now been taken into custody and is facing multiple charges in connection with the death.
Reggie's brother Jonathan, meanwhile, penned a heartfelt tribute to the 'Knockout King of Comedy', writing on Facebook: "To all who have expressed condolences on the passing of Reggie Carroll, your love has been well received - thank you!!! Due to the sensitive nature of Reg's passing, we are asking all to refrain from publicly sharing any details until we confirm all the facts. If you have posted any details, we respectfully ask that you delete the post. Please share my post to help us spread the word. Thank you all for your understanding and loving support."
Carroll was rushed to Regional One Health hospital in Memphis, where efforts were made to save his life, but sadly died from his injuries. The shooting is said to be an isolated incident despite the ongoing investigation.
A Baltimore native, Carroll was known for his TV appearances on shows like The Parkers and Showtime at the Apollo.
Tributes have been flooding in for the star online, with Oscar-winner and fellow comedian Mo'Nique writing: "This is why I say treat people the best you can because you never know if you'll get a chance to see them again, and the last time me and my brother Reggie, girl, was together. That's what it was, an amazing time, being on tour together, being on that road together, what a time, so I have no sad tears because all of our time together was amazing."
Another of Reggie's friends posted a snap of the star, writing: "Now 3 people from this pic are gone. Big Gerald next to me in the blue died 2 days after this. Byrd in the red cap behind Nate Jackson died a few months later. Now Reggie Carroll in the black beanie next to Corey Holcomb is gone. Life happens fast."
Fellow comedy star Loni Love wrote: "Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of my comedy brother... he was a hilarious, energetic and kind soul. Unbelievable... condolences to his loved ones."
