Queen Elizabeth did one sweet thing that proved just how much she loved her great-grandchildren, including , and .

When speaking about the late in a documentary to mark her 90th birthday back in 2016, revealed what the monarch did to make her great-grandchildren feel welcome when they came to stay with her, whether that be in Balmoral, Windsor or at Buckingham Palace.

The Princess of Wales said at the time: "She always leaves a little gift or something in their room when we go and stay and that just shows, I think, her love for her family."

Kate also revealed at the time that the late Queen dotted on her children George, now 11, and Charlotte, nine. Prince Louis was not mentioned as he was not born at the time of the interview.

She said: "I think she's very fond of Charlotte, always watching what she's up to. George is only two and a half and calls her 'gan-gan'."

Before her death, the late monarch was also seen publicly sharing a number of sweet moments with her great-grandchildren, who often accompanied her and the rest of the family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for large royal occasions.

In one of her last ever appearances on the balcony, the late Queen stood with Prince George by her side, with the young prince caught on camera beaming with pride at his "gan-gan".

Another sweet moment was caught on footage a few years back when Princess Charlotte was seen copying the moves of the late Queen.

When appearing on the balcony, a young Charlotte watched her great-grandmother wave to the public before copying this gesture herself, causing her mum, Kate, to giggle.

Another sweet moment was when Prince Louis, Prince William and Princess Kate's youngest children, was seen speaking to Her Majesty on the balcony during the 2022 Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The young prince, known for his cheeky antics, was caught chatting to the late Queen before pulling faces at the planes flying past and covering his ears as the jets flew overhead.

The balcony appearance was the last time the three children were seen with their great-grandmother before her death in September 2022.
