Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that he would be willing to return to Old Trafford as Manchester United manager.
Erik ten Hag is coming under immense pressure at the Theatre of Dreams, with questions already being raised about whether Sir Jim Ratcliffe made the right decision to retain faith in the Dutchman.
The Red Devils have endured a tricky start to the season and a further downturn in form could see Ten Hag put on the chopping block, and United won't be short of interest in any potential vacancy.
Ex-boss Solskjaer has now revealed that he would be willing to return to his former club if the opportunity arose.
Asked by Norwegian newspaper VG whether he would be open to the chance to make a comeback at Old Trafford, he said: "I don't like to talk about other managers jobs, but yes. Of course, I would."
The Norwegian spent three years in charge of the Red Devils before being sacked in November 2021, with Ralf Rangnick replacing him on an interim basis.
Solskjaer enjoyed some promising spells at the helm of the club, such as guiding his side to the Europa League final, but the desire to shoehorn Cristiano Ronaldo into his plans and the poor run of form as a result of that ultimately saw him sacked.
He has since spoken openly about his stint at the club and the mistakes he made along the way, both in regards to signings - notably the return of Ronaldo - and tactics.
Asked by The Athletic previously for his overall views on the job he did at United, Solskjaer explained: "Well, there's something missing: a trophy. One penalty could have changed that (in the shootout defeat to Villarreal in the Europa League final) and my time there would be viewed differently.
"Trophies are important, but it was also important to lay the foundation of good performances. We managed to do that for a long time, consistently. Ultimately, that's not good enough, but the remit I was given was to get fans smiling again and we had something going.
"We were top of the league in September 2021, Cristiano Ronaldo came in, and Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho joined. And we'd gone strong by signing these players. It was about taking the next step to challenge for the title. And, unfortunately, it just didn't work out."
