Football legend Paul Gascoigne has delivered a bold message to Marcus Rashford, suggesting the Manchester United star should consider a transfer overseas to reinvigorate his career.
The 26 year old forward has experienced a slump at Old Trafford following an impressive 30-goal haul in the 2022/23 season. His subsequent campaign saw a dip in form, with Rashford netting a mere eight goals.
Despite showcasing his talent in the recent 3-3 Europa League clash with FC Porto, Rashford's performances have been inconsistent. He faced being bened for the Crystal Palace match and received criticism for his outings against Twente and Tottenham.
With Paris Saint-Germain reportedly renewing their interest after initial discussions earlier this year, the French giants could offer Rashford a fresh start. Gascoigne is convinced that a move abroad could be beneficial for the England international.
"Yeah, definitely, I think so," Gascoigne asserted in a chat with SportsCasting regarding Rashford's potential departure from United. "I love Rashford, I think he's an unbelievable player but he just doesn't seem to care.", reports .
"Even when he scores, he doesn't seem happy about it so there's something going on there. If that's the case just move on. You get a couple of players that move on and then they find something different," he added.
"For Rashford, he doesn't seem happy playing in England anyway. And some good clubs will come in for him. Go to Italy, that'll shake him up."
Gascoigne then began to reflect on his time in Serie A, suggesting it could be beneficial for Rashford. "It shook me up. I remember when I signed for Lazio, it was funny," he continued.
"I said to my Dad, 'we'll go and watch them for a week first.' I watched the warm up and I went, 'wow, that's some training session.' And the coach went, 'that's the warm-up.' And I started crying a bit. I went, 'Dad, there's no way I can do that. F*****g no way.' Like 20 odd laps, just on a warm up. And then half an hour doing different stretches.
"My Dad went, 'well, you better f*****g get used to it because I've found a villa already and I'm moving in there.' That'll shake him [Rashford] up a bit, going abroad."
