Detectives investigating the parade crash that injured 109 fans have pleaded for more witnesses - just days after an ex-Royal Marine appeared in court over the incident. Last Friday ex-commando Paul Doyle, 53, Crown charged with seven offences, including dangerous driving, wounding with intent and grievous bodily harm (GBH) on six victims aged as young as 11.
When he he looked disheveled, tired and bleary-eyed as he chokingly confirmed his name, address and date of birth. Now three days later Merseyside have issued a fresh update on their ongoing investigation into the incident on Water Street, in Liverpool, on Monday 26th May just after 6pm.
Firstly they said the number of reported injured has increased from 79 to 109 - with the number in hospital reduced from seven last week to just four people.
They also confirmed they have had over 500 images, video, CCTV and dashcam from the incident.
But they have now urged anyone else with information to contact them as soon as possible, to help them with their ongoing probe.
The force said: "We are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information one week on from the incident in Water Street in Liverpool city centre.
"We were contacted at just after 6pm last Monday, 26 May, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians as the Liverpool FC parade drew to a close.
"The number of people reported to have been injured currently stands at 109. Four people remain in hospital being treated for their injuries.
"Specialist officers are supporting the injured and their families and we have mutual aid officers from GMP, Cumbria, Lancashire, North Wales and Cheshire assisting us with the investigation.
Detective Superintendent Rachel Wilson said: "This is a complex and constantly evolving investigation and we are still working through and assessing those reporting being injured and our enquiries remain ongoing.
"I would like to thank everyone who has been in touch with us so far to give witness accounts or supply information or video footage. The response so far has been of great assistance in progressing the investigation.
"We have had more than 500 submissions to the Major Incident Police Portal (MIPP) and a team of detectives are currently working through the information provided.
"I would continue to appeal for anyone who has information and is yet to come forward to please get in touch as a matter of urgency."

Paul Desmond Sanders Doyle, 53, of Burghill Road, West Derby, has been charged with two counts of unlawful and malicious wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm; two counts of causing unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm; two counts of attempted unlawful and malicious grievous bodily harm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, all contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.
Last week prosecutor Philip Astbury alleged that Doyle "used his vehicle deliberately as a weapon" when he ploughed into the crowd.
He has also been charged with one count of dangerous driving contrary to Section 2 of the Road Traffic Act 1988.
He appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday (30 May) and has been remanded into custody.
Detective Superintendent Wilson said: "As a person has now been charged in connection with this incident, I would like to remind people not to speculate or share information or footage which could in any way jeopardise the case.
"We understand that emotions are still running high, and people are seeking answers, but it is vital that we allow the matter to go through the judicial process."
