Arne Slot has suggested that Liverpool should take a leaf out of Manchester City's book and secure more victories in significant away matches if they aspire to be champions.

Slot referenced Kevin De Bruyne's triumphant goal at Chelsea in September 2017, which marked City's first title win under Pep Guardiola following an unsuccessful debut season.

Slot is bracing for the most challenging match of his Anfield tenure at Arsenal tomorrow. Last season, Liverpool only managed to win one of their away games against Arsenal, City, Tottenham, Chelsea, Newcastle, Manchester United, and Aston Villa.

The Reds' head coach has urged his team to improve their performance on the road, stating: "It's such a long time ago, but I can remember the first year when Pep was at City, they hardly won any away games.

"In the second year, I remember it was the first one, Chelsea away, Kevin De Bruyne scored a solo goal, and they won for the first time, a big away game.

"So if you want to win this league, you need to win a few of the five, six, seven very difficult away games."

"We're talking about Newcastle, we're talking about Chelsea, Aston Villa, Tottenham, City, United and Arsenal."

Last season, Liverpool only secured three points in their four matches against Arsenal and City, which proved crucial as they finished third in the title race.

"If you look at Arsenal last season, I think it was seven points in between Arsenal and Liverpool," he said.

"The away game Arsenal won. So if we could change the away result, which we can't, to a win for Liverpool that would have made one point difference between the two teams."
