Amazon Prime's latest original series, The Bondsman, is set to land on the streaming platform, with fans already buzzing about the Kevin Bacon-led show.

The series is a collaborative effort between Amazon's production studio and Blumhouse Television.

Fans have already drawn comparisons between this new show and other popular series and films, including a cult favourite from the 1990s.

So, what is The Bondsman about?

The story revolves around a bounty hunter named Hub Halloran, portrayed by Kevin Bacon, who is murdered but then resurrected by the Devil. His job description now includes a demonic element - he is tasked with trapping and sending back demons that have escaped from Hell's prison.

In his pursuit of these demons, with both the assistance and obstruction of his estranged family, Hub discovers how his own sins led to his soul's condemnation. This revelation pushes him to seek a second chance at life, love, and country music.

After Amazon unveiled a first look at the show, some fans noted its resemblance to a series released in 1998, suggesting it might be a remake of a show called Brimstone. While the plotline is similar, The Bondsman is not officially a remake.

Brimstone tells the tale of a policeman who finds himself condemned to Hell. Following a mass jailbreak in Hades that sets loose a multitude of hell's prisoners, the deceased officer strikes a deal with the devil to recapture these runaway souls in return for a chance at heavenly redemption.

Who stars in The Bondsman?

Kevin Bacon is at the helm of The Bondsman's cast, adding yet another title to the list for fans playing the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game. He is accompanied by a host of familiar faces and names in the series.

Country music star Jennifer Nettles portrays Maryanne. Her past roles are few, but she has most recently been seen in The Exorcist: Believer and hosted the reality show Farmer Wants A Wife.

Beth Grant, known for her roles in Mayfair Witches, The Mindy Project and The Office, plays Kitty. Damon Herriman, who featured in Justified and portrayed Charles Manson in Mindhunter, appears as Lucky.

Teen actor Maxwell Jenkins, known for his role as Will Robinson in the Lost In Space series from 2018 to 2021, plays Cade. Jolene Purdy, with credits including WandaVision, Under The Dome and Glee, will portray Midge.

When can you watch episodes of The Bondsman?

All episodes of The Bondsman will be ready to stream on Amazon Prime from 3rd April. There will be a total of eight episodes for viewers to enjoy at their leisure.

Fans have been expressing their eager anticipation for the series, especially after the trailer dropped a few weeks ago. Comments have been pouring in with one fan saying: "I most definitely will be watching this. Looks great and who doesn't like Kevin Bacon."
