viewers were barely minutes into the latest episode when a jaw-dropping moment from Coronation Street had them howling with laughter. As the nation's favourite armchair critics settled in for another round of British telly highlights, ITV's long-running soap delivered a scene that no one saw coming. The moment unfolded after married Abi Webster, played by Sally Carman, got into a minor car accident.
While fixing the damage, she struck up a flirty exchange with the other driver. But things quickly took a wild turn when the stranger boldly offered her meaningless sex, confessing he found her very attractive. Cast members Mary and Giles were not impressed with the forward nature of the proposition, with Mary declaring: "What makes you think I'd be interested in barnyard sex at such short notice?" Giles also appeared stunned by the scene, pulling a stunned face.
Fans were very amused by her assessment, and the presumption that they would have a wild fling in a barnyard saw fans flooding to X - formerly known as Twitter - to poke fun at the unusual exchange online.
One user penned: "Mary calling that flirty corrie scene barnyard sex is hysterical. she is odd but so funny. why barnyard?? Lol." Another echoed: "'What makes you think I'd be interested in barnyard sex at such short notice?' . Giles and Mary, fabulous. More please."
A third penned: "I swear Giles & Mary have their own dictionary! Howling!"
Giles Wood and Mary Killen have been fan favourites for viewers of Channel 4's hit fly-on-the-wall series Gogglebox over the past nine years, with many viral moments together due to their bluntness and their many clashes. Giles recently admitted that doing the show with his wife, Mary, had "saved our marriage".

He told Hello!: "Working together on Gogglebox - watching telly at the same time - meant Mary and I suddenly no longer lived like two intimate strangers," highlighting their misaligned daily schedules as a reason for their drift.
"It has definitely saved our marriage," he added.
Fans were also tickled later in the episode when footage of the recent Blue Origin space flight was aired, where six famous women, including singer Katy Perry, went into space for 11 minutes.
Manchester-based favourites, the Malone family, were seen watching intently as the rocket took off, before being heard saying: "I'm not being funny, but that rocket looks like a giant dildo".
Several fans posted the exact quote on X followed by laughing emojis, with one adding: "Having a good old laugh at this," and "that's exactly what I just said."
Another popular line was when Sky at Night's Dame Margaret Ebunoluwa Aderin-Pocock was heard asking "Are we prepared for an asteroid strike?" Tom Malone then said: "We're not prepared for a bin men strike..."
