A horror series endorsed by Stephen King is finally making its way to a streaming platform in the UK.
The show, Teacup, has already been released in the US at the end of 2024 and is now set to reach a new audience.
Originally aired on Peacock, fans in the UK have been eagerly awaiting news of its release.
Now, it's confirmed that Paramount+ will be the platform streaming the title from April 18.
So, what is Teacup about? Who are the cast members? How many episodes does it have and how can you stream the entire series? What has renowned author Stephen King said about it? Here's everything you need to know before its premiere.
Teacup revolves around bizarre occurrences on a secluded family farm in rural Georgia. The Chenoweths start noticing that their animals are becoming restless for an unknown reason , reports .
Their young son wanders into the woods and returns somehow changed. He seems disoriented and shares cryptic warnings with his parents.
Adding to the eeriness, a mysterious man wearing a homemade gas mask arrives in the small town. This unnamed figure begins to spray-paint a blue line along the ground and issues his own messages to the residents.
The trailer shows him holding a sign that reads 'Don't trust anyone' at one point. As a result a group of neighbours thrown together to combat a lethal and mysterious menace.
The show's synopsis reveals: "As the ranchers begin to piece together the terrifying truth behind the horrific events that surround them, they are confronted with deep-seated past issues and resentment towards each other, forcing them to accept the sobering reality that they must ultimately come together for the sake of the town's survival, or face an eminent and utter demise."
Teacup draws inspiration from the novel 'Stinger' by Robert R. McCammon, however, it has been crafted into a distinct story for television by Ian McCullough. McCullough boasts an impressive resume including stints on the acclaimed Yellowstone and Chicago Fire.
The show stars The Handmaid's Tale's Yvonne Strahovski as Maggie Chenoweth, the town veterinarian. Her character is married to James Chenoweth, played by Scott Speedman of Grey's Anatomy fame.
Chaske Spencer portrays rancher Ruben Shanley, known for his roles in the Twilight saga and the upcoming Marvel series Echo. Meanwhile, Kathy Baker steps into the shoes of Ellen Chenoweth, James' mother battling multiple sclerosis.
Baker is no stranger to viewers, having previously starred in The Ranch on Netflix.
Boris McGiver takes on the role of Donald Kelly, an army veteran, in the series. McGiver's notable work includes appearances on The Wire, House of Cards and the feature film Lincoln.
There will be eight gripping episodes of Teacup in total. The first half drops all at once on April 18, while the latter four instalments shift to a weekly release schedule, paving the way for the grand finale on May 16.
Despite garnering largely favourable reviews, January reports have dashed any hopes for a second season of Teacup, urging audiences to savour it as a standalone limited series.
Among the series' admirers is none other than master storyteller Stephen King, who took to social media to share his thoughts: "If you like From or Lost, I think you'll enjoy this. It's strange, creepy, claustrophobic, and scary. Beware the Gas Mask Man. Short episodes. All killer, no filler."
Teacup is streaming on Paramount+ from April 18.
