
fans were utterly devastated as Craig Tinker was killed off in emotional scenes. Viewers feared for Craig's (played by Colson Smith), after he was left for dead by Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) at the end of Monday's (May 20) episode.
The incident played out after Craig pulled Mick over for drink-driving. After Craig attempted to arrest him, Mick lashed out and attacked him with a baseball bat, abandoning the police officer who was bleeding on the ground.
Tuesday's (May 21) instalment of the ITV soap began with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) discovering a badly beaten Craig, who was later rushed to hospital and admitted to intensive care.
Despite briefly waking up in the hospital, Craig lost consciousness once again, with doctors revealing that his brain was swelling. Despite administering CPR, doctors confirmed that Craig had succumbed to his injuries.
The scenes left fans heartbroken as they flocked to social media to admit they were in tears.
"NOT OUR CRAIGY!!! Justice for Craig. ", wrote one viewer.
A second penned: "Nah did craigy dirty there, we do not want more deaths he deserved a happy ending." A third also typed, "Nooooo craigy! RIP tinks."
Ahead of his heartbreaking death airing, Colson, 26, said: "I can't wait for people to see Craig's final scenes. It is exactly the exit I wanted for him and we are all really proud of what we filmed in those final weeks."
Colson made his debut as Craig when he was just 11 years old in 2011.
The soap actor revealed last month that he "will always miss" after confirming that he had filmed his final scenes on the cobbles.
Colson shared on yesterday a final shot of himself sitting in a police car, captioning it, "One last shift mate. ." Many of his fans couldn't help but react with emotion as he bid farewell after 14 long years.
One person wrote online in the comments, "Oh Colson, I'm going to be gutted to see Craigy go but also excited to see what's next in line for you."
A second person also chimed in, "I can't watch it. I honestly won't be able to watch anymore. I will watch what you'll be in next."
