Chelsea are still targeting more signings, but it doesn't appear that Real Madrid star Rodrygo will be one of them. Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens are among the new faces to have joined this transfer window, but Enzo Maresca isn't done yet in attack.
The Blues are also negotiating a number of player departures and Joao Felix's Chelsea nightmare is nearly over. Last season, he was sent on loan to AC Milan after failing to break into the starting XI. He only joined in a £45million deal from Atletico Madrid 12 months ago but is now heading to Saudi Arabia.
Benfica were in talks to sign their former player, but according to Sky Sports, Al-Nassr have now agreed a fee for the 25-year-old. The deal is said to be worth an initial £26.2m, followed by £17.5m more in potential add-ons.
The money will help fund further signings. The Club World Cup winners have been heavily linked with a move for RB Leipzig forward Xavi Simons, and are reportedly still chasing Alejandro Garnacho.
Those developments make a move for Brazilian star Rodrygo almost inconceivable. Real Madrid value Rodrygo at around £90m, and are under no pressure to sell in a cut-price deal given his contract runs for another three years.
With Simons and Garnacho potentially coming on board, it means Rodrygo wouldn't be guaranteed a regular berth in his favoured left wing position, especially with Gittens already at Stamford Bridge.
Rodrygo has also been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool. He's said to have grown unhappy at Real Madrid after Carlo Ancelotti played him out of position last season.
New boss Xabi Alonso has also indicated he's not part of his immediate plans. He was reduced to a substitute role in the US this summer and was unused in the semi-final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain. Yet his options in the Premier League appear to have narrowed.
