Mumbai: A 60-year-old Dharavi resident was taken into custody on Tuesday for allegedly raping a minor. The suspect, identified as Jafar Hanif Khan, was apprehended after the victim recognized him during the assault.
According to authorities, Khan entered the victim's residence wearing a mask but was identified when it fell off. Fearing exposure, Khan allegedly threatened the victim with an acid attack and inflicted minor injuries with a knife.
In a separate incident, an 85-year-old Malabar Hill resident is facing allegations of molesting his 20-year-old domestic helper. The victim lodged a complaint with the Malabar Hill Police Station, detailing inappropriate contact and unwanted advances.
The domestic helper, who began working for the family on September 9, reported the incident to authorities. Police have issued a notice to the accused and initiated an investigation.
The victim recounted the alleged molestation, stating, "The elderly man approached me in the kitchen, touched me inappropriately, and grabbed me from behind." She further alleged that the accused followed her and kissed her without consent.
Following the complaint, the accused's wife apologized to the victim. Police are investigating both incidents.
