Iltija Mufti Concedes Defeat in J&K Elections, Pledges to Accept People's Verdict

Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, has conceded defeat in her first electoral contest. Early trends on Tuesday showed Iltija trailing by over 5,000 votes in the Srigufwara-Bijbehara constituency. Acknowledging the outcome, she expressed her gratitude for the support she received during her campaign.

"I accept the verdict of the people. The love and affection I received from everyone in Bijbehara will always stay with me. Gratitude to my PDP workers who worked so hard throughout this campaign," Iltija said in a post on social media platform X.

Iltija was running against National Conference candidate Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri, who currently leads by a margin of 5,000 votes.

Despite the loss, Iltija Mufti is rapidly emerging as a notable political figure in Jammu and Kashmir. As the daughter of Mehbooba Mufti and granddaughter of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the founder of the Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party (PDP), Iltija has stepped into the political scene with confidence and a clear vision for the future of the region.
