The Indian government has set an ambitious plan to assist 12.5 lakh students in preparing for competitive exams by 2029. The goal is to reduce reliance on expensive private coaching, which often puts students from low-income families at a disadvantage.
In order to move forward with this initiative, the Ministry of Education will hold a two-day meeting with state governments. This meeting will focus on implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, including discussions on accreditation and expanding digital learning.
As part of this plan, the government aims to launch a new program called "SATHEE," which will provide free digital resources to help students prepare for competitive exams. The program will include AI-based learning tools and will collaborate with institutions like IITs and AIIMS to develop high-quality content. A government official said, "Through this programme, the government hopes to create a level playing field by offering structured support, particularly for those in underserved regions."
the meeting will also address the expansion of digital learning. The government has set a target of enrolling two crore new students in online courses through its SWAYAM platform over the next five years.
