Pakistan Asim Munir: The Pakistan government has introduced a significant bill to amend the Constitution, creating a new position called "Chief of the Defence Forces." This position will be assigned to current Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir, for which the 27th Amendment to Article 243 of the Constitution is proposed.

Significant news is emerging from Pakistan. The Pakistani government has overnight introduced a significant bill to amend its constitution, creating a new position. This position will be held by none other than Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir.

The new position proposed by the Pakistan government is called Chief of Defense Forces. Under this new amendment bill, the president will appoint Asim Munir to this position on the advice of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

What is the reason for creating a new post?

To create this new position, Pakistan is amending Article 243 of the Constitution, for which the 27th Amendment Bill has been introduced in Parliament. The Pakistani government states that this position is being created to establish better coordination among the military, allowing all three services (Army, Navy, and Air Force) to operate under a single command.

What is the Chief of Defence Forces?

The Chief of the Army Staff is usually appointed Chief of the Defence Forces. The President appoints him on the advice of the Prime Minister and the National Strategic Command. The Chief of Defence Forces is also known as the head of the three armed forces.

Operation Sindoor rattled Pakistan

According to Pakistani media reports, Pakistan has learned its lesson after suffering a four-day defeat at the hands of India in Operation Sindoor. Last month, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh stated that several Pakistani military aircraft, including F-16 fighter jets, were shot down during Operation Sindoor. Pakistan eventually requested a halt to the fighting, prompting India to cease its attacks.

It was only after Operation Sindoor that the Pakistani government promoted Army Chief Asim Munir to Field Marshal. The position of Field Marshal is the second-highest rank in the Pakistani Army. Meanwhile, just a few months after Operation Sindoor, a constitutional amendment was passed to make Asim Munir the head of all three armed forces.
