ICC World Test Championship 2024/25: After the humiliating defeat in the Test series against New Zealand, the Indian players have started facing the wrath. According to the report, if Team India fails to qualify for the final round of the upcoming World Test Championship 2023-25, then the Board of Control for Cricket in India has considered forming a new team for red-ball cricket.
Recently, Team India faced New Zealand in a 3-match Test series on home ground. Where it faced a clean sweep after about 24 years. After which Rohit and the company are being heavily criticized.
According to the report of Press Trust of India, a source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India, on the condition of anonymity, has said that if Team India fails to make it to the WTC final for the third consecutive season, then senior players may be dropped for the England tour in January 2025.
According to the source, "If India fails to qualify for the WTC final to be played in England, then four senior players of the team will not be on the flight to the UK for the upcoming five-match Test series. Perhaps all four senior players of the team have played their last Test match together at home."
The report also claims that an informal meeting is going to be held between top BCCI officials as well as the current chairman of the selection committee Ajit Agarkar, head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma. In which it will be discussed how to manage senior players in the future.
