What is DigiLocker?

DigiLocker is a cloud-based platform launched by the Government of India in 2015 under the Digital India initiative. It allows users to digitally store, access and share official documents.

Is it possible to get a challan even if the documents are in DigiLocker?

No, you cannot be fined if your documents are uploaded in DigiLocker. The traffic police will consider them valid under the Information Technology Act, 2000.

How to use DigiLocker?

How to get started:

Download the DigiLocker app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store

Or

Visit the official website: https://digilocker.gov.in

Sign up using your mobile number and link your Aadhaar card.

Create a username and password to access your locker

How to upload documents:

Open the app or website and log in.

Go to the 'My Certificates' section.

Select the type of document (e.g., driving licence, RC, etc.).

Enter the information required to obtain it from the issuing authority.

Your document will be available for download and saved in DigiLocker.

Supported file formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, PDF

Storage capacity: Up to 1 GB of free cloud space
