Nearly 20 people were treated for smoke inhalation after the blaze broke out in the lift machine room this morning at the all-inclusive Bellevue Bonita and Club Resort in Puerto de Alcudia. Local reports said multiple tourists were trapped in lifts at the hotel, although they are now understood to have been freed.

“There are people trapped in the elevators and the establishment is being evacuated. Firefigthters from Inca, Alcudia and Arta have been mobilised.”
A spokesperson said in a later update: “Three people have been taken to hospital, one to Inca Hospital and two to Muro General Hospital.”
Two girls aged 13 and eight were taken to the island’s Muro General Hospital after suffering smoke inhalation.
Most of the 18 left needing treatment are believed to be holidaymakers, although at least two hotel workers were assisted by emergency medical responders.
Though firefighters said the hotel had been evacuated, some tourists are understood to have been told to stay in their rooms and go onto their balconies to make sure they didn’t breathe in any smoke.
Local police and Civil Guard officers were also sent to the scene as part of the emergency response.
Police are yet to confirm the nationalities of the three people taken to hospital, and it is not thought anyone was seriously hurt in the incident.
The Bellevue Club, the hotel where the blaze started, has not yet made any official comment.
It describes itself online as an impressive all-inclusive resort and the 'largest three-star holiday city' in Europe.
It adds: “Surrounded by spectacular white sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, the hotel offers a unique setting with a lake that connects directly to the sea.
“Family fun is guaranteed with activities for all ages and tastes. The Hotel Bellevue Club is ideal for those looking for a unique stay, full of entertainment and relaxation in Mallorca.”
