Poundland is introducing a significant change to its stores nationwide. And it could help customers save money.
The budget retail chain has confirmed it will offer more products for just £1. This follows Poundland's introduction of a new pricing structure for many of its items, which will now be sold at £1, £2, and £3 respectively.
Now, the proportion of items to be sold at £1 has risen to 60%, while goods priced at £2 have increased to 20% and those at £3 by another 20%. Thenew lower prices will apply to confectionery items, household goods, and health and beauty products.

Barry Williams, Managing Director of Poundland, said: "We've reached a major milestone in converting the whole of our grocery aisle to a simple £1, £2 and £3 offer, reducing prices and focusing on the favourite items customers want us to bring them. But there's much more to do, our Christmas and Halloween ranges, bought by our new in-house team, give a glimpse of what we'll be bringing in 2026′′.
The new price range was initially tested across 17 Poundland stores in the Midlands. During this time, customers enjoyed lower prices while products were more tailored to customer preferences, the firm said.
It was only five years ago when Poundland lifted the £1 price cap on a wide range of its products. Over the past few years, it had started selling items at £2, £5, and £10.
U-turn for Poundland
It comes after Poundland made a U-turn on its decision to close 68 stores across the UK. Despite already closing 57 stores in its latest round of closures, with an additional six shut over the weekend, 11 stores originally set for closure have been spared and will remain open.
Many at-risk stores have been restocked and reopened. Mr Williams said: "We're determined to deliver a simpler, more focused Poundland that keeps its promise of amazing value to customers.
"We appreciate the support we've had from suppliers, landlords and other partners who've now all been fully briefed on our plans to get us back on track. While there is much work to do, I'm confident that a Poundland focused on the simple value our customers expect, has a bright future."
Despite this, the company is still planning to reduce its store count from 800 to approximately 650 to 700.
