Nurse influencer Hailey Okula tragically died in childbirth after welcoming her first child. Her husband Matt shared the sad news of her sudden death in a post on social media after she died earlier this week.
In a heartbreakingly tragic post, Matt paid tribute to his wife. He explained that "words can’t describe how badly they wanted to be parents" and they had been "overjoyed" to be expecting baby Crew.
"It is with the heaviest of heart that I share the devastating news of the unexpected passing of my beautiful wife, Hailey Marie Okula, due to complications from childbirth. Words cannot convey the depth of the loss I feel," he wrote.

"Hailey was more than I could have ever dreamed of in a wife and partner. She was gorgeous, smart, hardworking, passionate, trustworthy, and above all else, unbelievably loyal. For nearly 13 years, she stood by my side in the hardest of times, loving me endlessly, even when I felt undeserving of that love. She was my everything."
He added: "Hailey’s strength was unparalleled. Words can’t describe how badly we wanted to be parents. After years of infertility struggles and a long, challenging IVF process, we were overjoyed to be expecting Crew. Hailey faced every hurdle with so much courage and love - even though her body went through so much, she never wavered."
Matt also gave an interview to Fox 11 Los Angeles where he sadly revealed that minutes after their son Crew was born, Haley suffered an amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) and went into cardiac arrest.
"There’s no treatment. There’s no way of diagnosis it. It’s just so sad to think that other people have to go through what I’m going through right now," he explained, detailing his tragic loss.
Hailey had been open about her fertility struggles and had grown her fame by being open about her life as an ER nurse. She launched a special RN New Grads programme to support those newly graduated nurses with "educational resources and interview help".
A GoFundMe has been launched to support Matt and Crew amid their tragic loss. A description alongside the post reads: "Now, Matt is left to navigate life as a single father while grieving the love of his life.
"The nursery they built together is no longer a shared refuge but a place of both love and heartache. The late-night feedings, diaper changes, and endless adjustments of new parenthood are his burden alone.
"Matt is not one to ask for help - but those who know him, especially his brothers and sisters in the fire service, know the kind of man he is. A man who has dedicated his life to protecting others. Now, it's our turn to protect him."
At the time of writing, fans of Hailey and well-wishers have raised a total of $329,490, with over 7,000 donating.
