Nick Knowles issues shock update on wife's health after hospital dash

Nick Knowles has issued an update on his wife after she underwent a major operation.

The DIY SOS presenter, 63, married to Katie Dadzie, 35, earlier this year but she had to have a hysterectomy shortly after they tied the knot.

Now, the TV star has admitted that his significant other recently suffered a 'setback' in her health as she had to have another visit to hospital after becoming restless.

During an appearance on ITV's Lorraine on Monday, Nick explained: "She had a massive operation not long after we were married, the full hysterectomy, which she's been very public about trying to help people along the way. We've got hundreds of thousands of people paying attention to her journey through that.

"And then set had a setback last week and she had to go in for a second really tough operation last week, we were in hospital again this Saturday actually, so literally a few days ago."

Host Lorraine Kelly then explained that Katie had accompanied Nick into the studio that day and former Strictly Come Dancing star Nick explained that was because she is just trying to stay active amid her recovery out of boredom, despite doctors' orders.

He added: "Combination of being restless not doing what she's told, she's meant to be in bed not doing much but getting bored. To ease the boredom but also she won't sit still because she works so hard, so she wanted to come along. And also, the Lorraine family have been so fabulous for her as well as me so she wanted to come say hi."

Nick then added that in the thousands of messages of support she receives, trolls cruelly commented on Katie's looks - and for being pictured after surgery without make-up on.

He added: "It's really odd, you get hundreds of messages like 'Hope you're well, terrible time for you...' and you get one that says, 'It's time to put a face of make up on,' it's just nuts what people will say, isn't it?" Lorraine insisted: "Do not listen to these terrible people, no, stop, stop, stop! You spread positivity and that's what we want!"

Over the weekend, Nick shared a photo of his wife in hospital, explaining she was in pain following setbacks from her recent procedure. "Poor @KatieAKnowles back in hospital again.

"More complications after her lifesaving surgery last week - but still smiling thru all the pain and medical procedures. (When she’s not crying with the pain)," he wrote.

Nick praised his wife’s resilience, adding: "I can’t tell you how much my wonderful wife has gone thru over the past few months - and I don’t mean just living with me.

"The medical procedures and painful recovery, the setbacks and starting from square one again - and she does all this with enormous resilience and determination and the occasional cry. I’m so proud of her.”
