Jeff Brazier says he has 'no choice' but to admit he needs late partner 'at this point' in a shocking new interview. The TV star, 45, has raised their sons Bobby, 21, and Freddy, 20, as a single parent following Jade's death from cervical cancer in 2009. Bobby was five years old at the time of the tragedy, while younger brother Freddy was just four.

In a new interview, 16 years after Jade's death, Jeff said his boys need their mum m ore than ever. He said: “To lose the mother of your children is a huge trauma that, of course, shapes your life. It comes down to the fact that we need her.

"It’s not just about missing her — we need her as a mother at the moment, and we always have done, in all honesty. I think sometimes it’s termed that she is missed and we’re doing our best to cope.

"Sometimes, you have no choice but to look at it and realise we need her at this point," he told

His statement comes after it was revealed that Jeff has launched legal action to stop Freddy seeing his maternal grandmother Jackiey Budden. It's reported that the concerned dad wants to block the pair having any contact, claiming the relationship has been 'incredibly detrimental'.

In 2021, Bobby confirmed in an video that he was back in contact with his nan after losing touch. He said: 'I didn't see her for ages - for way too long - but I went to see her twice recently. And honestly if there's one woman you shouldn't underestimate it's my nan. Honestly, she's like a wizard! It's nuts."

Various videos of Freddy hanging out with Jackiey, 68, have appeared on TikTok showing the pair laughing together. Friends of the family say Jeff and Jackiey fell out some time ago and never repaired their relationship.

Jackiey was banned from attending when Bobby reached the final. She later called Jeff a 'c**k' after Bobby praised him during his National Television Awards speech.

Jeff previously revealed he was annoyed with Jackiey for buying the boys mobile phones without his permission when they were children. He said: "A year ago she got them a phone each so she could have direct contact with them both and I don't remember being asked if I minded on that occasion either. i understand she wants direct contact but they are just too young to be carrying these things around responsibly so we keep them to the house. I can't fault Jackiey when she's got the boys, I just wish we could work together a little better."

It appears that Jeff's relationship with his ex-partner's mother, Jackiey, has deteriorated further. Jeff has initiated legal action regarding his youngest son, Freddie, due to concerns about his well-being.

According to a source, Jeff has hired a barrister and is preparing for a court hearing, as he believes that Jackiey's influence is having a negative impact on Freddie. The insider stated: "This is something Jeff and anyone who cares about Freddy hopes will help keep him safe from a relationship that has been incredibly detrimental to his wellbeing for a long time now. The fact that Jeff is going down this route shows how concerned we all are, and how our efforts to keep Fred safe are being grossly undermined by other people. ''.

On Mother's Day, fans were convinced that Jeff had made a shocking jibe at Jackiey as he thanked a host of friends and relative for their hand in helping to raise his sons - but noticeably left her out.

He wrote: "Firstly to the greatest mother imaginable to be cruelly denied the privilege of seeing her children long into adulthood. Anyone taken from loved ones is sorely missed but I’d have to admit we have needed you ever since and still do to this day. It was too big a job for me alone but thankfully we have a strong dependable village around us. My Mum & Auntie Leslie were there for us in every way especially those early days and beyond. It’s hard to imagine coping without them.

"My wife Kate and I can be really proud of how we’ve grown and risen to the challenges. She’s the first person i confide in when i need to figure something out or vent and her support has been a constant throughout.

"The Godmum’s, Jades friends, have been a constant source of time, love and comfort always checking in, going above and beyond.

"Happy Mother’s Day to Kate’s Mum Debbie and Kate’s Auntie Lisa. They have been amazing with Bob & Fred but I’m particularly grateful for our memories of Safari & how they kindly welcomed us in to their Christmas plans for the last 11 years making a difficult time feel special.

"My friends Dawn, Chantelle & Karen deserve a massive Happy Mothers Day too. Invaluable support, each of them have given my children so much over the years.

"It’s a team game parenting so Happy Mother’s Day to the hero’s that have picked us up, carried us, and continued to hold us in mind. We ❤️ you all."
