Coronation Street spoilers for next week: 'Distressing' discovery and affair 'sealed'

Spoilers for next week confirm a new character sparking chaos, a devastating health twist, hints of an affair as well as a proposal. Other big moments see punch-ups, fallouts and characters struggling to cope.

One resident's devastating dementia storyline will escalate next week after a series of worrying incidents. Debbie Webster is told for the first time she might have the condition, while there's also some other big things happening for the character.

As well as a proposal, she's reunited with her brother Carl Webster who debuts amid their sibling Kevin Webster's cancer battle. Speaking of Carl, he has a run-in with a Weatherfield lady but sparks could fly.

Speaking about the episodes ahead the Mirror's soap insider teased: "It's a really big week for the Webster clan. We've got Kevin's very public turmoil as he continues to push people away, and soon the arrival of Carl shakes things up. But between the two plots we've got Debbie's secret heartache with no one realising what she's going through."

The big storyline of the week is the heartbreaking news for Debbie at a life-changing doctors appointment. After suffering a handful of worrying incidents including a recent fall and confusion, as well as misplacing her possessions, she makes a call to a doctor.

Viewers will see flashbacks to each incident she refers to, before she's left concerned to be told she may have suffered a mini stroke and that the doctor wants to refer her for some more tests for vascular dementia. "It's an almighty shock for Debbie," reveals our soap insider.

"She's concerned something is very wrong and she's scared, but what the doctor has to say really shakes her up. We see Debbie reluctant to share her turmoil, almost in denial of what she could and sadly will be facing."

Later in the week as Debbie continues to reel from her possible diagnosis she's left confused by a text message from her sister-in-law Abi Franklin. Another incident sparks further turmoil for her, but their could be some joy for her amidst her fears as Ronnie arrives and proposes to Debbie - but will she say yes?

Also next week is the moment Carl debuts and is reunited with his siblings Kevin and Debbie. But before that, he has quite the showdown with Abi Franklin which leads to him getting a punch to the face.

Our soap source revealed: "Abi sees red and lashes out, there's no stopping her. Of course she has no idea that the man she's rowing with is the brother-in-law she's never met - it's quite the introduction." The pair are rowing over a car parking space, and her violent actions leave her mortified and apologetic.

But it doesn't end there for the pair, and it's clear there's an attraction between them amid reports of a possible affair. Our soap insider shared: "Abi tries to redeem herself when Carl's car fails to start, but it leads to the hunk asking her out on a date. She's clearly taken aback and she can't deny there's an attraction there.

"When they unexpectedly meet again later on in the week it finally dawns on Abi that the man she punched, and the man she's attracted to, is her husband's younger brother. She's nervous knowing he could reveal the truth about their first meeting to Kevin at any point."
