From Jumbotail To InCred Finance — Indian Startups Raised $315 Mn This Week

The funding in the Indian startup ecosystem shot up this week, which also saw the country producing its 124th unicorn in the form of Jumbotail. Overall, twenty one startups raised $314.6 Mn between June 30 and July 5. This was an over 13% jump from $278.3 Mn raised across 22 deals last week.

Besides the uptick in funding, the new-age tech IPO spring continued this week as well.

Key Startup Funding Highlights Of The Week

  • Buoyed by $120 Mn mega funding raised by Jumbotail, ecommerce emerged as investors’ favourite sector this week. The sector saw about half of the overall investments this week, with four startups raising $155.6 Mn.
  • Last week’s top funded sector, advanced hardware & technology, saw four investment deals materialise this week. Four startups in the sector raised $7.3 Mn this week.
  • Peak XV Partners was the most active investor this week, backing AppsForBharat, Aukera and Luma Fertility.
  • Eight startups at the seed stage raised $18.8 Mn this week, a decline of 33% from $27.8 Mn raised by startups at this stage last week.
Startup IPO Updates Of The Week
  • Cloud kitchen startup Curefoods filed the DRHP for its IPO, which will comprise a fresh issue of up to INR 800 Cr and OFS component of up to 5 Cr shares. Investors like Accel, Chiratae, and Alteria will sell their shares via the OFS.
  • Meeshoand Shadowfax took the confidential pre-filing route for their IPOs this week.
  • In the run up to their IPOs, Kisshtand NoPaperforms converted into public entities.
Startup M&As This Week
  • Zoho announced its second robotics startup acquisition this week, buying Asimov Robotics toexpand its R&D capabilities in robotics.
  • Walko Food Company bought Mumbai-based Meemee’s Ice Creams to enter India’s artisanal dessert segment.
