A 15-year-old minor working as a carpenter has been detained for allegedly brutally killing his co-worker with a plywood grinder machine over a petty dispute in Bhiwandi on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Kaisar Azgar Ali, 22, a resident of the Shantinagar area of Bhiwandi.
According to the police, a contractor had called Ali and three other workers to work for a few days in Mankoli village, Bhiwandi. Due to unavoidable circumstances, the workers were also staying intermittently at the worksite.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night when a heated argument broke out between the two individuals over a minor issue. In a fit of rage, the minor allegedly attacked Ali with a hammer and later used a plywood grinder, brutally slitting his neck and shoulder.
D.K. Kadam, the investigating officer from Narpoli Police Station, stated, "During the investigation, it was revealed that the minor had been distressed over the deceased's behavior at the worksite over the past few days. On the day of the incident, the deceased allegedly struck him over a trivial issue. Enraged, the minor attacked him with a hammer and a plywood grinder, leading to his death. He fled the scene immediately afterward. The incident came to light when the house owner and the contractor arrived, witnessed the aftermath, and promptly informed us."
Following the incident, police rushed to the scene, conducted a panchnama (site inspection), and questioned the other workers. They discovered that the minor was among them. He was detained and subsequently presented before the Juvenile Justice Board, which remanded him to an observation home. Further investigation is ongoing.
Police informed the deceased’s family. Ali was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Bhiwandi, where he was pronounced dead during treatment. Sources confirmed that Ali sustained multiple injuries from the grinder.
